Overview
El Reno was established in 1889 and was named for General Jesse L. Reno who was killed in the battle of South Mountain in 1862. The "El" was prefixed to differentiate it from the post office at Reno City and Fort Reno. El Reno lies in the heart of the Canadian River Valley. El Reno is located on the I-40 25 miles west of Oklahoma City, and is located near Lake El Reno
