From Boston Logan Airport (BOS) 1. From the main airport roadway, follow signs for "Route 1a / Sumner Tunnel / I 93." 2. Enter the Sumner Tunnel, and stay in the right lane. 3. As you exit the Sumner Tunnel, veer right into the tunnel for Storrow Drive. 4. As you exit this tunnel, make a left following signs for "Leverett Circle / North Station. 5. At the second light, make a left (follow 28 North sign) and immediately take a right at the next traffic light. 6. This puts you on to the O'Brien highway (28 north). 7. You will pass the museum of science on your left. 8. after two traffic lights, turn left onto Edwin H Land Blvd. 9. The hotel will be one sixteenth of a mile ahead, on your right, at 25 Edwin H. Land Blvd.
From the MBTA (subway) Green Line 1. Take a green line MBTA train to Lechmere Station. 2. Exit the train to the right and follow signs to Cambridge Street. 3. After walking under the train tracks, cross Cambridge Street and turn left. 4. At the second traffic light, turn right on Edwin H. Land Boulevard. 5. The hotel will be one sixteenth of a mile on your right. 6. The hotel is approximately 5 minutes walking from Lechmere Station.
Directions from the MBTA (subway) Red Line 1. Take a red line MBTA train to Kendall Square Station. 2. Exit the train and walk down Cambridge Center toward the Charles River and the Longfellow Bridge. 3. When you reach the river, turn left on Edwin H. Land Boulevard and follow it toward the Cambridge side Galleria and the Museum of Science. 4. The hotel will be past the Cambridge side Galleria on your left. 5. The hotel is approximately 15 minutes walking from Kendall Square Station.
Boston Convention/Exhibition Center - 4 miles Harbor Delights More than 30 islands make up Boston Harbor Islands State Park (617-727-7676), and a cruise there is an ideal way to connect with Boston's maritime heritage. Picnicking and hiking are popular island pastimes. You can even take part in an old-fashioned clambake or beach barbecue. Boston Harbor Cruises (617-227-4321) visits the state park may through mid-October. Fine Feathered Friends The Boston Public Garden's pedal-powered swan boats were launched in 1877 by immigrant shipbuilder Robert Paget, who conceived their design after attending Wagner's opera, Lohengrin (a swan-drawn boat transports the hero at the end). The ingenious craft have plied the garden's tiny lagoon ever since, and have become unofficial mascots of the city. When they return to the water each April following winter storage, the mayor traditionally shares the first ride of the season with several lucky schoolchildren. Trolley Good Fun Hop aboard the old town trolley and explore the delicacies of Boston, with a bit of history on the side. The marketplace (open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.) offers an array of specialty shops, as well as many of the city's favorite restaurants. Just north of resplendent Faneuil Hall Marketplace is unpretentious Haymarket, a colorful open-air produce market (open Friday and Saturday) that has operated on this site for more than 200 years. New England Aquarium Immerse yourself in the magical world of water at the New England Aquarium on Central Wharf. A four-story circular glass tank contains many of the aquarium's most fascinating marine animals. April through October, get aboard the aquarium's Voyager II or Voyager III for a four-hour whale-watch excursion to Stellwagen Bank, 25 miles off the coast of Boston. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (617-566-1401) was designed and built by its namesake as a showcase for the visual and performing arts. Three floors of galleries surround the flower-filled courtyard, and the museum continues to present more than 60 concerts a year, set amid antique furnishings and masterpieces. Patriot Dreams Boston and neighboring towns are justly proud of the part they played in the revolution. At the Boston Tea Party ship & museum (March-November; 617-338-1773), you can relive the famous protest against "taxation without representation." the "shot heard 'round the world" resounds again on Patriot's Day (mid-April; 781-862-1450) at reenactments on Lexington Green and at minute man National Historical Park (978-369-6993) in Concord. Stand your ground at Charlestown's bunker hill parade (mid-June; 617-241-9511). U.S.S. Constitution across Charlestown Bridge from Boston's north end lies historic Boston Navy Yard, where you can tour the 200-year-old U.S.S. Constitution ("Old Ironsides"), the oldest commissioned warship afloat. Afterwards, visit the U.S.S. Constitution Museum (617-426-1812); then climb Adams Street to the Bunker Hill monument and Bunker Hill pavilion (617-241-7575) to view "whites of their eyes", a 20-minute multimedia presentation of one of the revolution's most heroic battles. Freedom Trail Marked with a conspicuous red line, the freedom trail is a walking tour of 16 historic buildings, sites and monuments that document Boston's contribution to American history. Pilgrims' Progress A re-creation of the original 1627 pilgrim village, Plymouth Plantation (508-746-1622) is 35 miles south of Boston, near the site of Plymouth Rock and a replica of the Mayflower. The picturesque city of Salem, 19 miles north of Boston, is home to the Salem Witch Museum (978-744-1692) and the House of the Seven Gables (978-744-0991).

Sail on the Charles River, pedal your way down a scenic bike path or power-walk through town in search of Paul Revere. Bicycling And Walking - There are a number of scenic bicycle trails in the area. The Emerald Necklace (617-635-4505) traverses nine parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted (who also designed New York City's Central Park) and Charles Eliot. - The Dr. Paul Dudley White Charles River bike path follows the river for nearly 17 miles, winding from Watertown Square to the Museum of Science. - The Stony Brook Reservation bikeway is a four-mile route from Hyde Park to West Roxbury. For additional information on bike paths, call (617-727-9547). - Bike rentals are available during the spring and summer at community bike shop (617-542-8623) and year round at Lincoln Guide Service (781-259-9204). The hotel does offer a limited amount of bicycles for complimentary day use. - Boston is a pedestrian's dream, a city to be savored intimately, one step at a time. The freedom trail, black heritage trail and Harborwalk are self-guided tours that lead visitors past famous historical sites. PRO SPORTS - There's no doubt about it - when it comes to professional sports, Boston has all the bases covered. - The Boston Red Sox (617-267-1700) are led by American League batting champion and shortstop Nomar Garciaparra and Cy Young award-winning pitcher Pedro Martinez at venerable Fenway Park, home of the infamous left-field wall known as the Green Monster. - The AFC East football powerhouse New England Patriots (508-543-1776) hit the gridiron at Foxboro Stadium, 45 minutes south-west of Boston. - The NHL Boston Bruins, winners of five Stanley Cups, take to the ice at Fleet center, which also serves as home to the 16-time NBA Champion Boston Celtics, a club that has been graced with some of the most potent lineups of all time.
