    Recreation Information
  • Golf at Sea Island

  • Words and pictures fail to fully describe legendary Sea Island golf. Only through personal experience is it possible to understand how history, tradition and topography have converged to create this golfers' paradise. Deeper than the stunningly beautiful greens and fairways is a rich genealogy tracing back more than 70 years, when course design masters of that era conceived the original links of the Sea Island Golf Club, drawing their inspiration from industry meccas like St. Andrews. Over time, new champions and modern tastes have had their influence on the evolution of our courses, but never at the expense of the aura that golf traditionalists hold dear. Our passion for excellence has earned us the industry's highest accolades, including Golf Digest's lists of "America's Best 100 Golf Courses" and "America's 75 Best Resort Courses," as well as Golf Magazine's "Gold Medal" and "America's 100 Best Golf Holes." Besides offering the exhilaration of sport, our courses are known for their natural beauty and breathtaking panoramas of Coastal Georgia. A day on one of our courses is one you'll never forget. Caddies are a time-honored tradition at Sea Island, but carts are also available for your comfort. Our full-service Golf Shop ensures you'll never want for anything? here you'll find the latest equipment and accessories, including club rental and custom club crafting, regripping and fitting ? and, for resort guests, club cleaning and storage.
  • The Sea Island Spa

  • Our staff at The Sea Island Spa stands ready to indulge you in the highest level of personal service and pampering ? with everything from hands-on body treatments to one-on-one consultations on exercise and nutrition. • Tennis

  • It's like finding the sweet spot of your racquet, stepping foot onto our Har-Tru clay composition courts; 10 courts, 4 with lights for evening play, to challenge you to show your mettle. And if you need to polish your serve, spend some time with our programmable ball machine ? or better yet, take in a group or private lesson with one of our USPTA certified instructors. We?ll even match you with an appropriate partner for one of our frequent round robins. Pity those legendary pros of the game?the tourney circuit couldn't possibly be this much fun. For additional information, call 1-800-Sea-Island or contact tennis@seaisland.com.
  • Shooting School

  • Our 70-year old Shooting School remains one of the few offering all three types of clay target shooting. Our facilities combine tradition with the most current technology available, guaranteeing you a top-flight, high quality experience?whether you're in one of our 'beginners' classes or here to perfect your skills. Serious shooters and novices alike will find invigorating challenges at both our original Shooting School ? which features competitive five-stand sporting clay field, two formal skeet ranges and the trap field ? and at our new Rainbow Island Sport Clays, where twelve sporting clay stations are situated on a stunning mile-long nature walk. Air rifle shooting offers an exciting new opportunity to test your proficiency. With a focus on safety, education and professional instruction, the Shooting School offers an ideal opportunity to enjoy a sport rich in history and tradition. For additional information, call 1-800-Sea-Island or contact shooting@seaisland.com.
  • Waterways

  • What is it about water that casts such a magical effect? Is it the soothing tonic of warm, salty ocean breezes?or the mystery of an undersea world? Whatever it is that draws you to the coast, Sea Island is the quintessential setting for water-based recreation. The vast Atlantic Ocean, winding rivers and rich salt marshes allow ample opportunity to reel in "the big one." Arrange a charter of your own through the Sea Island Yacht Club; experienced guides the finest equipment available help you turn "tall tales" into bragging rights. For the adventurous, sea kayaking, catamaran sailing and body boards call. A kayaking or sailing lesson will help you navigate our five-miles of private Atlantic Beach. Seeking something a little more relaxing? Head to The Beach Club and lose yourself in the whirlpool?or sit under a shady cabana and enjoy your favorite drink poolside. Later, join one of our ever-popular vintage yacht cruises and explore the animal, plant and marine life of our tidal creeks.
  • Equestrian & Stables

  • Shall we dare suggest that waves need embellishing? The clip-clop sound of hooves on wet sand may be nature?s best musical score yet. Unsullied miles of Atlantic beach and island salt marshes provide the ideal setting for a horseback excursion. Try a ring ride or start with lessons in English balance seat or Western style. For serious equestrians, our stables offer the proper boarding accommodations for your own horse. Meet us for some daytime exploration or a natural history ride with our naturalist who highlights the unique environment on Sea Island. Enjoy the acoustics.
  • Bicycling

  • We have our own version of ?off-road? vehicles. Rent a bicycle at the Bike Shop and explore oak-shaded paths and island nooks the way guests did before SUVs were even thought of. Feel like a kid again?it's time. A Leisurely Way to Tour Sea Island With spring gardens in bloom, what better way to explore the byways of the island than by bicycle? Rentals are available next to the Spa. Mr. Fred has appropriately-sized bicycles and helmets for every member of the family! Rental rates are $8/hour, $14/half day, $16/first day and $8 each additional day. Child carriers are available for $1.50/day. Enjoy a little exercise while enjoying the view at your pace.
  • Dancing at Sea Island

  • Would it be out of line to credit dancing at The Cloister with inspiring wonderful relationships? Four generations of newlyweds, couples and families have whiled away joyous evenings ? dreaming while dancing cheek-to-cheek, strengthening bonds in the mirth of dance lessons. We can't help but think the effects are everlasting, which is why dancing continues to be an important part of Cloister life. Audrey Wood, our resident dance instructor, has taught Cloister guests the fine points of dancing for over a decade and she makes it seems so easy! Originally from Great Britain, Audrey trained at the Alex Moore School of Dancing in London for eleven years. A certified instructor with memberships in the National Dance Council, the International Dance Teacher Association, Terpsichore and the National Teachers of Dance, she teaches all dances approved by the National Dance Council of the United States. A complimentary group lesson is offered Monday-Saturday at 2 p.m. and private lessons may be arranged by appointment.

  • Environmental

  • After more than seventy years of residency, we still consider ourselves newcomers?because nature has been at work here for thousands more. We have always remained respectful of indigenous inhabitants, and a little extra care and consideration has left us with the gift of nature's bounty. It's yours to enjoy through turtle walks, salt marsh nature tours, and other environmentally-oriented activities that indulge interest without intrusion.
