A historic landmark set on the edge of Calabazas Creek, the 19th-century Queen Anne-Italianate building features 23 guestrooms and suites. The elegant inn features contemporary,uncluttered furnishing with Asian and Indonesian influences, such as Chinese sea grass carpets. Each room is individually decorated with custom furniture and pieces collected throughout travels abroad. The inn offers a gourmet three-course breakfast,evening wines and hors d'oeuvres in the sitting room,a 24-hour cookie and tea bar,a DVD library as well as concierge services. An outdoor swimming pool,heated May through October and whirlpool spa are located behind the main house,surrounded by manicured grounds. Located creekside,the three acre property is landscaped with a manicured lawn and an array of gardens,including rose,perennial,herb and vegetable. Sculptures bring the gardens to life,while private sitting areas and hammocks provide romantic resting places along the creek. The well-appointed guestrooms feature private baths,fine linens,bathrobes,slippers,hairdryers,Aveda bath products,cable TV,DVD and CD players. Many of the guestrooms have whirlpool baths or Japanese-style soaking tubs,in-room refrigerators,fireplaces and private decks. Breakfast at the Gaige House Inn is truly a gourmet meal. Chef Charles Holmes' innovative three-course breakfasts emphasize fresh,locally grown ingredients, and are prepared with imaginative flair. Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at $15 per guest, with seating times arranged upon check-in or by advance request.
