Property Description
During the gilded period of Newport, when Americas wealthy families were building lavish summer homes and bringing with them every luxury, a little luxury found its way to the natives of Newport themselves. Gardeners who worked on the mansion grounds, it is said, took home cuttings of the exotic plants they cared for, among them the hydrangea, and grew them in their own gardens. We have taken our name from the hydrangea, which now blooms all over Newport, because we, like the gardeners, have brought a little luxury home. And we would love to share that feeling of old luxurious Newport with you. You can expect to find more than the usual continental breakfast here. We will serve you our own special blend of fresh ground Hydrangea House Coffee, home baked breads and granola, as well as our incredible raspberry pancakes, perhaps our seasoned scrambled eggs. Breakfast is served in the unique setting of our contemporary fine art gallery featuring local, regional and national artists. Be assured, a Hydrangea House Inn breakfast will last the day and energize you for a Newport experience. We are located right on historic Bellevue Avenue just 5 minutes from the Newport mansions. Step out our front door and you are in the heart of The City By The Sea with its antique shops, varied clothing stores, galleries, boutiques, ocean beaches and the largest historic district in America with its 18th and 19th century points of interest. Your hosts will be happy to recommend restaurants for any budget and popular night spots in and around Newport. We know you will love it here. Our nonsmoking policy assures you a fresh, clean atmosphere. And Newport is such a special place from yachts to the fleet, from clam shacks to grand restaurants, from seeing history to making history. We may not be one of Newports legendary mansions, but we are a special place that is a home away from home with our welcome mat out for new friends. Check in time is after 2PM and no later than 6P.
